Real Luxury

This is a high-class place. This is part of the chain Pousadas run by the Govt. in Portugal that is a combination of old castles, old state houses, old hotels, all converted into high-end fancy new hotels. Everything about the place was shear class. The restaurant was especially fine, and the hotel was quite convenient to local attractions

Beautiful and comfortable Ducal palace

Just outside of Coimbra, this small town is the location for a lovely home owned by dukes in the past, now a pousada. It is lovely, beautifully appointed with a large lawn in back and a pool. We arrived late in the afternoon, and just as we finished checking in, the dining room closed officially for lunch. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We were offered lunch and had “toasts” (grilled cheese and ham sandwiches). Dinner and breakfast were good too, which is a good thing as essentially this is the only game in town. It’s located a 10 minute drive from extensive Roman ruins which are surprising and definitely worth visiting. Lovely relaxing stay.

A Visit to Condeixa Portugal

The staff at the Posada were every helpful. We left and went on to Lisbon for a few days. When we arrived at our next hotel, I realized that I had left my four rings in our bathroom at the Posada. The hotel in Lisbon called the Posada and asked them to go to look in the bathroom. They said the housekeeper would be there later in the day. We asked if they would go check now as the room was very close to the front desk. They did this and called us to say that they had found my rings which they sent and arrived today. I was sure that I would never see them so I want to say thank you to the man and woman at the front desk and the staff at the Pousada. They were very sentimental as one was a diamond ring given to my mother when my patents were married. There are wonderful people in this world.

Good for Coimbra and local ruins

Quiet and pleasant posada with good , light and airy rooms. We really enjoyed our stay – the only negative point was the breakfast – when things ran out they never seemed to be replenished.
Great location for visiting Coimbra with its charm and character. Also good for the local archaeological ruins which are well worth a visit. A really good local restaurant in the town.
